Lei JIAOAssociate Professor, Principle Investigator

Dr. Lei Jiao received his bachelor and doctoral degree at College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University (Beijing, China) in 2005 and 2010, respectively. After a postdoctoral research at Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Munich (Germany) from 2010 to 2013, he started his independent career as an associate professor (PI) at the Center of Basic Molecular Science (CBMS), Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University in 2014. He received Thieme Chemistry Journals Award (2014), Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Award (2015), and the Newcomer Award in Physical Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Chemical Society (2017).

The Jiao group focuses on mechanistic studies using physical organic methods to solve fundamental problems in organic chemistry, and to tackle challenges of organic synthesis by rational molecular design. The current research interests include N-boryl pyridyl anion chemistry and design of cooperative ligands for Pd catalysis.
